Well, after a hectic 2 weeks I finally find the time to sit down and bore you with my thought process..
So anyway, the BBQ is just around the corner, and I for one am pretty excited about that. Of course that also means some kitchen work and a lot of shopping. We have about 25 people taking the trip to Turnhout and for many it will be the first time visiting Fetch’s new establishment.
I’ll of course give you a report of that one as soon as I sober up again. Hopefully that won’t last too long.
In wow in the mean time things only slowed down for a few holiday weeks, and the raid team is now knocking on the Lich King’s door. Our frontrunners are eager to have the Kingslayer title hovering above their heads and I for one have no doubt they will reach that goal soon The raids also still generate interest from newer/returning members and if this goes on we might actually consider a second team.
A few of us are also a bit distracted to say the least by the release of Starcraft 2. I’ve finished the single player in 2 days and must say it does not disappoint. Sadly enough my multiplayer skills are not exactly honed enough to battle my fellow lowar founding fathers who seem to be intensely involved in various battlenet games.
Here I am again with the weekly report.
On the real life side of things I can be short: life happens. Meaning too many of us were busy and nothing really happened this week.
On the wow side things are still all great. Raids and casual side of the guild are both doing very fine indeed. I seem to have sparked some others with my pvp bug and I see plenty of lowarians in the various battlegrounds and wintergrasp. Of course that also means there is a bit more complaining in guildchat about how much alliance sucks in pvp.
We welcome yet a new member: Deathdorf. Crunch is ‘to blame’ for this one and Death seems another welcome addition to our team, giving us the extra tank we needed.
In officers, we have started to plan for Cataclysm, and are currently discussing recruitment phase 2 (Expect some samples of my ‘graphic side’ to emerge soon) and evaluating raiding and the new guild level system. If you have any opinions or suggestions, don’t hesitate to contact an officer via mail or chat. It’s what they are there for J
That’s it really, until next week.
Thillio
Hello all, here I am again with the weekly report.
Things are certainly looking up for our wow chapter. The positive vibe seems to only have grown over the week. People feel at home, we have more and more members online again and all of a sudden we no longer seem to have problems filling up our ten man raids. The lowar magic at the moment is very present.
This does not mean we’ll stop recruiting by a long shot. The new expansion will call for fairly large guilds with the new guild level system, a feature Lowar has been hoping for since the launch of the game. And of course we ultimately want to be back to a 25-man dungeon capacity. So I’ll be focussing on bringing in new blood and trying to get some old friends back in. You can help: see the forum for more info. (Btw: to all old friends reading this: get your asses back in before I start twisting arms or worse *grin*)
On a personal note I’m also very happy to see the return of Topsider. We go way back in game-land, tops being an officer with me in the now legendary 5 Tau Ceti Rangers from Earth & Beyond, and he was there with Lowar on Draenor since day 1. I hope to bring you some more nice surprises in the next few weeks.
A few more lowarians got into the Starcraft 2 beta, namely myself and Thirsan (also from soy fame). I guess I can write you that report myself now over the next few weeks, although I don’t see myself playing it that much since the wow pvp-bug has definitely bitten me.
On the live department, Tain’s new bar provided us with a nice location to play games and we finally got around to playing a game of twilight imperium again. Cronax won, although if you ask him Tain (a.k.a. Fetch) will gladly explain to you why he in fact has won. I’ll upload a pic of the game board to our website, so you can see what kind of complicated stuff we like.
Until next week,
Thil.
Hey guys.
Now that I’m active co-leader in wow again (as well as overall lowar gm), I though I resume my old habit of giving you a weekly update on the state of things.
In wow, things are certainly taking a few steps in the right direction. Most guilds have a hard time the last few months before a new expand, and for a while lowar seemed no different. However Hawkfeather managed to recruit a whole group of his real life friends by convincing them to switch servers. At the same time a group of the real life lowar members including myself mysteriously decided to start playing again.
As you should know by now I’ve taken the challenge of handling recruitment. We would like to continue our positive vibe and bring even more good and capable people into lowar, partly because our raiding team can still use a boost with summer coming up. With the return of Ironrooster I feel energized to continue looking for old and new friends to join us.
A few of our raiders have shared their opinions about what could be changed in our raiding efforts with the officer’s corps. Rest assured that we are on it and are currently evaluating our raiding system with those remarks in mind. We will keep you posted on what Idea’s we’ll come up with; we will need your feedback!
As for other games: lowar is currently not supporting guilds in any other game. We are of course keeping track of one MMO, tentatively announced for spring next year, and that is the highly anticipated Knights of the old republic MMO. We are also not forgetting our very online roots and are following the development of Diablo 3 and Star Craft 2. In fact a few of us are already in de SC2 beta. I’ll try to convince those fortunate ones to give us a report soon as there is no NDA.
On the real life games side, things have been calm at best. With some key members being unavailable a lot (Bula just ‘had’ to go to Afghanistan for 6 months) it’s not always possible to get enough people for our Saturday afternoons. This should be better again in the near future though with some new interested people.
